about

**if you bought the vinyl -- email pseudolodo@gmail.com for digital**

"The Pseudo boys have attempted, and I think succeeded, in challenging the music industry here not just, as per usual through their often-snarky, often-biting lyrics, but also through the core musical form of this effort.

They've taken music that has inspired them from artists they respect and attempted to cover, reinterpret, interpolate or, as the owner and operator of Chopped Herring Records Bob Lipitch notes, 'Adapt', some of their favorite songs. By blurring the lines (pun intended) between sampling and instrumentation, they attempt to reorganize the songs, often rewriting them but always keeping the core of the original song at the heart of the new tune, while also sticking to the theme of the effort.

Pointing to the contradictions inherent to the structures of the music industry, the art of sampling as it relates to 'intellectual property rights' and the modern mirage of 'originality', Pseudo has offered up, what I consider to be, both a tribute to some music they love and, also, a political treatise in response to all of the suits, bankers, patent-trolls and NuMark ass busters who happily perpetuate this unrelentingly exploitative system."
